In short

AMFG sells quoting and production software for CNC machine shops and 3D printing bureaus: geometric estimating, AI drawing analysis, an embeddable portal with Stripe payment, scheduling and shop-floor tools, an MCP server and US GovCloud hosting, on unpublished prices with a one-off onboarding charge. Quotometry is a self-serve instant quote widget for 3D printing, CNC machining, 2D cutting and budgetary moulding, with public monthly plans, a price breakdown, backtesting, calibration and versioned configurations. It does not read drawings, has no production tools, and does not take payment in its widget.

Processes CNC milling and turning, plus FDM, SLS, SLA, MJF and DMLS. CAD files: STEP, STL, SLDPRT, PRT and x_t FDM, SLA/DLP/LCD resin, SLS, MJF, metal powder bed, PolyJet and binder jetting; CNC milling and turning; laser, waterjet and plasma; budgetary injection moulding and vacuum casting. Free and Starter cover polymer printing
CNC and sheet metal CNC milling and turning on both plans, with a geometric estimating engine and work plan generation CNC milling and turning from STEP (Growth plan and up); a mesh upload goes to the shop's review. Laser, waterjet and plasma cutting from DXF or SVG (Pro). Bent sheet metal is not built
How time and cost are estimated Geometric estimating engine and auto-quoting; described as learning the shop's own costing logic Slice-profile estimator: samples true cross-sections and integrates walls, skins, infill and supports per layer, without running a slicer per quote. Accuracy against real slicers is not yet published
Price breakdown for the shop Not found in public sources Every price is a tree of named lines with the inputs behind them; the shop chooses what the buyer sees
Test a pricing change on past quotes Not found in public sources Simulator re-prices recent quotes and reference parts with a draft change before you publish it (Growth plan and up)
Calibration and versioning Not found in public sources Calibration fits speed and overhead coefficients to parts you have made. Configurations are drafted, published and rolled back, and every quote keeps its version
Buyer-facing front end Embeddable website portal on both plans; AMFG has built customised quoting portals on bureaus' own sites Native web component, with iframe and hosted quote page fallbacks; WordPress and Shopify plugins

Orders and production Order tracking on both plans. Quoting & Production adds scheduling, route cards, activity tracking, machine integration, build preparation and Python scripting Order inbox with manual review and price override; orders also arrive by e-mail and signed webhook. No scheduling or shop-floor tools
API and integrations APIs to more than 500 third-party systems; custom APIs from its technical services team. No public API reference found REST API with OpenAPI 3.1, idempotency keys and test mode (Growth plan and up); signed webhooks with retries over 72 hours, replay and a delivery log
AI features Sentinel AI reads 2D drawing PDFs (material, tolerances, threads, surface roughness) in under 3 seconds, launched July 2025; MCP server for ChatGPT, Claude and other MCP tools on live quotes, orders and production No AI features today; an MCP server is planned
Security and controlled work Hosted on AWS GovCloud (US); ITAR support, CMMC Level 2 support, ISO 27001 EU data region; no ITAR or CMMC handling

Which to choose

Choose AMFG if

  • You machine parts as well as print them and want one system from RFQ to the shop floor.
  • You want scheduling, route cards and machine integration alongside quoting.
  • You quote from 2D drawings and want AI to read the material, tolerances and threads.
  • You handle ITAR or CUI work and need US GovCloud hosting.
  • You want AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude working on live quotes and orders through an MCP server.

Choose Quotometry if

  • You print, machine or cut parts and want buyers to price them alone on your own site from a 3D file or a drawing file.
  • You want a free plan or a published monthly price, with no onboarding charge.
  • You want to read every line of a price, backtest a change and roll it back.
  • You want a public OpenAPI document and signed webhooks to build your own integration.
  • You sell through WordPress or Shopify and want a plugin.

Where AMFG is stronger

AMFG covers machining and production as well as printing. Its plans quote CNC milling and turning next to FDM, SLS, SLA, MJF and DMLS, and the Quoting & Production plan adds scheduling, route cards, activity tracking, machine integration and build preparation. Quotometry prices printing, CNC milling and turning, cutting and moulding from the file, and stops at the order.

It reads drawings. Sentinel AI takes a 2D drawing PDF and pulls out material, tolerances, threads and surface roughness in under 3 seconds, by AMFG’s account. Quotometry has nothing comparable.

It is ready for AI assistants. AMFG’s MCP server lets ChatGPT, Claude and other MCP tools work with live quotes, orders and production data under each user’s existing permissions. Quotometry’s MCP server is planned, not built.

It serves defence and aerospace work: hosting on AWS GovCloud (US), ITAR and CMMC Level 2 support, and ISO 27001. Quotometry has an EU data region and does not handle controlled work.

The buyer can pay through Stripe in the portal on both plans.

Where Quotometry is stronger

Quotometry is self-serve. A shop signs up, configures its printers and materials, and publishes a widget without a sales call or onboarding charge, on a free plan or a published monthly price.

It shows the working. Every price is a tree of named lines with the inputs behind them, and the shop decides how much the buyer sees. A draft change can be backtested against recent quotes and reference parts before it goes live, configurations are versioned with rollback, and calibration fits the estimator to parts the shop has already made.

For SLS and MJF the price comes from the part’s share of a packed build. The API is described by a public OpenAPI document with a test mode, and orders are delivered by signed webhooks with retries, replay and a delivery log. There are WordPress and Shopify plugins.

Pricing compared

AMFG does not publish prices. Its pricing page lists Quoting and Quoting & Production, each through a contact form, and its FAQ says onboarding is an additional one-off charge.

Quotometry’s plans are Free, Starter at €29, Growth at €99 and Pro at €299 a month, with annual billing at ten months’ price. The measure is the quote request: the first price of a file for a buyer; re-pricing is not counted. Backtesting and API access start on Growth. Every quota is on the pricing page.

Switching

The two products overlap for a shop that prints or machines parts and wants an instant price on its own site.

  • If you quote from drawings or schedule production in AMFG, keep that there.
  • For printed or machined parts, run a Quotometry widget on a test page first. Start from catalogue presets for your printers and materials, enter your own rates, and quote the same parts you quoted in AMFG.
  • Send Quotometry orders into your existing systems through signed webhooks; there is no AMFG connector.
  • Keep controlled or ITAR work off Quotometry.

Questions people ask

Is Quotometry an AMFG alternative?

For a shop that wants an instant quote widget on its own site with public prices, yes, for printed, machined and cut parts. For a shop that quotes from 2D drawings or wants scheduling and shop-floor tools in the same system, not today: Quotometry reads 3D files and flat DXF or SVG drawings only, and has no production features.

Does AMFG publish its prices?

No. Its pricing page lists two plans, Quoting and Quoting & Production, with a contact button for each, and says onboarding is a one-off additional charge. Quotometry's plans, from free to €299 a month, are on its pricing page, with no onboarding fee.

Does either product read engineering drawings?

AMFG's Sentinel AI reads 2D drawing PDFs for material, tolerances, threads and surface roughness. Quotometry reads 3D files only: it measures the part's geometry, runs manufacturability checks and prices from that. It does not read drawings or title blocks.
