SLA / DLP / LCD resin material guide
Every setting that lives on a SLA / DLP / LCD resin material, and where each number comes from - usually a supplier's data sheet or an invoice.
A material is something you buy, so most of these numbers are on an invoice or a data sheet rather than in your head. Price and density are the two that matter most; get those right and everything else is a refinement.
Materials live in the Library too, so a price change is one edit even if five configurations use it.
Every setting on this page
These are in the same order as the editor, with the same help text. Each one has an anchor, and the ? beside a field in your console links straight to it - so if you are reading this because you clicked one, the setting you were looking at is highlighted.
Resin: printing
Tank residue & carry-overwaste_pct
Resin you pay for but never cure: what stays in the tank, what clings to parts, what goes into the wash.
Price: Added on top of the resin in the part, so it raises every quote in this material.
Typical: 5–12 %.
Exposure multiplierexposure_multiplier_pct
Exposure relative to the machine's times.
Price: Slower-curing resins take longer per layer.
Typical: 100 % standard, 120–150 % tough / clear.
Thinnest layerlayer_min_mm
The thinnest layer this resin can be printed at reliably.
Price: Narrows what a buyer may choose in this material, independently of what the machine could do.
Typical: 0.02–0.03 mm.
Thickest layerlayer_max_mm
The thickest layer this resin cures through properly.
Price: A resin that will not cure at 0.1 mm forces finer layers, and finer layers mean more of them.
Typical: 0.05–0.1 mm.
Minimum supported wallmin_wall_supported_mm
Thinnest wall you will print in this resin when it is supported.
Price: No direct price effect - it is the threshold for the thin-wall warning.
Typical: 0.3–0.6 mm.
Minimum unsupported wallmin_wall_unsupported_mm
Thinnest wall you will print in this resin when it is standing free.
Price: No direct price effect - unsupported walls fail at a greater thickness than supported ones, which is why there are two numbers.
Typical: 0.5–1 mm.
Minimum holemin_hole_mm
Smallest hole that will still be open after printing and curing.
Price: No direct price effect - it is a DFM threshold, and it stops a part that arrives solid where a hole should be.
Typical: 0.4–0.8 mm.
Wash solvent per cm²solvent_ml_per_cm2
IPA / TPM / water carried out per part surface area.
Price: Reported as the `sla.solvent` consumable.
Typical: 0.05–0.2 ml/cm².
May be hollowedhollowable
Whether this resin may be hollowed at all.
Price: Turning it off removes the hollow option for this material, so parts in it are always quoted solid.
Typical: On, except for very brittle resins.
